Lunch Break is by default set so that you have 30 minutes of paid absence. Anything beyond that is unpaid or deducted from overtime.

EDITING LUNCH BREAK DURATION FOR ALL USERS

If you want to extend or shorten the paid lunch break time for all users at once, you can do so in the settings by going to Global Time Rules and clicking the Edit button to change the lunch break parameters.

By changing the “Maximum Duration” parameter, you define how much time a user has for a paid lunch break.

  • Minimum Duration → defines how much time the user must spend at minimum on lunch break. If the recorded time is shorter than the entered value, the system will penalize the user and the difference will be counted as unpaid time.

  • Maximum Duration → defines the maximum time the user can spend on lunch. If exceeded, the excess time is deducted from overtime.

  • Earliest Start after Shift Start → defines how long after the shift starts the user is allowed to register a lunch break. For example, if the shift starts at 8:00 and you want the lunch break to be recorded only after 10:30, you need to enter the value 2:30.

  • Latest finish after Shift Start → defines how long after the shift starts the user can register a lunch break. For instance, if the shift starts at 8:00 and you want lunch to be registerable until 14:00, the value should be 6:00.

  • Treat lunch breaks outside the lunch period as unpaid time → the system additionally checks whether the lunch break was registered outside the defined period (10:30–14:00).

If this option is disabled, users can still register lunch breaks outside the time window, and it will be processed normally. However, the user will be marked as a violator.

If the option is enabled, and users register their lunch breaks outside the 10:30–14:00 period, it will be treated as unpaid time.

EDITING LUNCH BREAK DURATION FOR SPECIFIC USERS

Lunch break duration can also be set for individual schedules.

Open Time Policies and select the schedule you wish to edit.

Inside the schedule, go to the Rules tab and edit the Lunch Break rule.

In the next step, select Override and define custom rules that will apply only to the selected schedule.
