By default, the Lunch break rule is set so that 30 minutes of lunch break are paid. Any time beyond that is unpaid or deducted from overtime. You can change the paid lunch break duration for all employees at once or only for a selected time policy.
Lunch break duration for all employees
Open Settings › Global Time Rules, select the Rules tab and click Edit next to the Lunch break rule.
Set the duration of the paid lunch break in the Maximum Duration field and save the change.
The rule has the following settings:
Minimum Duration – the shortest lunch break. If the break is shorter, the difference is counted as unpaid time.
Maximum Duration – the longest paid lunch break. Any excess is deducted from overtime.
Earliest Start After Shift Start – how long after the shift start the employee can register a lunch break at the earliest. Example: with a shift start at 8:00 and a value of 2:30, lunch can be registered from 10:30.
Latest Finish After Shift Start – how long after the shift start the employee can register a lunch break at the latest. Example: with a shift start at 8:00 and a value of 6:00, lunch can be registered until 14:00.
Treat lunch breaks outside lunch period as unpaid time – defines what happens to a lunch break registered outside the set period (10:30–14:00 in the example above). If enabled, such a break is counted as unpaid time. If disabled, the break is calculated as usual, but a violation is recorded for the employee.
Lunch break duration for a specific time policy
You can also set the lunch break duration for a selected time policy only. Open Settings › Time Policies and select the time policy.
In the time policy, open the Rules tab and click Edit next to the Lunch break rule.
Under Configuration type, select Override, set the values (for example a Maximum Duration of 0:40) and save. The settings apply only to the selected time policy; all other time policies keep the global time rules.
