How to add a new counter?

Instructions for creating a new counter in Global Time Rules.

Written by Marko Klopčič

A counter tracks the amount of time or the number of instances within a given period.

  1. In Settings > Global Time Rules, open the Counters tab and click Add.

Note: If you do not see this view, ask your account administrator for the appropriate permissions.

2. Enter the counter name, select the Rule Value Type and click Save.

Value types:

  • Number of instances – the value increases by 1 each time the source appears in a day.

  • Number of days with instances – the value increases by 1 only on the first appearance of the source in a day (the daily value is 0 or 1).

  • Time value – the counter sums the time of the related sources within a day.

3. In the Configuration section, click the edit icon and set the counter parameters:

  • Sources – the source that increases or decreases the counter value (e.g. an absence or a calculation result).

  • Conditions: Source categories – the counter only includes the selected category (e.g. Sick leave).

  • Conditions: Days – the counter only includes the selected days.

  • Conditions: Intervals – the counter only includes time between the From and To values.

  • Restrictions by values – limits the calculation with a daily threshold condition.

  • Action Events – automatically change the counter value; not required for basic counters.

4. Click Save and select the period from which the counter applies.
